Technical services are crucial to provide our customers with safe and reliable rail cars. One of the substantial advantages of GATX Rail Europe is our rail car maintenance service network that handles a wide variety of technical services and ensures that rail cars are serviced thoroughly and quickly.

GATX Rail Germany is the owner of Jungenthal-Waggon GmbH, a maintenance workshop providing competent technical support to our rail cars in Germany.

GATX Rail Poland owns various technical facilities in Poland. The most important of them is the Rolling Stock Repair Plant in Ostróda, the largest and most comprehensive GATX tank car repair plant in Europe.

In Ostróda we perform repairs and modernize our rail cars, as well as provide standard services. We modernize tanks and undercarriages, thus upgrading them to changing regulatory requirements. The plant is also certified to perform repairs of railcars (formerly) registered by Austrian and German railway companies. Therefore, should they require an overhaul or periodic inspection in Poland they do not need to be returned to their countries of origin but can easily be sent to our plant for repair and inspection.

Our service centers provide the following services:

• rail car tank cleaning,
• performing rail tank car maintenance overhauls (inspection, lubrication, replacement or replenishing of minor tank car accessories without the rail cars being taken out of service),
• routine and emergency repairs,
• periodic rail tank car repairs of both the undercarriages and the tanks (scheduled repairs for which the time and scope are specified under railway or industry regulations).
