"Optimized in weight, cost, length and volume!" – that’s the motto of this new type of railcar which is based on our previous tank car for caustic soda. The new, cost-optimized design now allows a payload of up to 69,1 t on D-tracks. There is a real advantage here for our customers: Because these sodium hydroxide cars can carry up to 2,0 t more load than older rail tank cars on the market. Thanks to its heatable, insulated 55 m³ large stainless steel tank, this type of car can be used as top or bottom unloader.
Many advantages for our customers – many options for the future
The optimised underframe will first be fitted to the new sodium hydroxide railcar. But this genuine innovation will also be used on the other chemical cars from GATX – finally, this rail tank car is flexible in its use and is not only suitable for sodium hydroxide but can also be used for the transport of phosphoric acid, chloroform or highly concentrated sulphuric acid, too.
Additional equipment details:
- Tare weight only approx. 20,9 t
- Externally operated handbrake
- Heatable, insulated T-pipe
- Push brake design and bogies without head units
- No ladder
You run block trains? The optimized length over buffers of just 13,79 m allows the transport of more volume with the same number of cars. There are important cost advantages for our customers here. And this shorter railcar is ideally suited to restricted track lengths at the loading point or at the receiving point.
We are very much looking forward to presenting the new member of the GATX family to you in person. We would be happy to discuss with you, too, the many possibilities of individually equipping this wagon in accordance with your wishes. Please visit us at the transport logistic 2017 in Munich in the coming May!
