Since the end of September, GATX Rail Europe has been continuously handing over railcars to rail logistics provider Fracht FWO, part of Swiss Fracht Group, in Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, marking the start of a promising new partnership. The delivery includes GATX 60’ Sgns container railcars, a mix of fleet and newly built units, now in operation across Germany. The trains run in block service from Mülheim an der Ruhr to Lower Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, transporting pipeline tubes primarily for gas infrastructure.
Quality, Collaboration, and Commitment
The journey toward this project began at the end of 2024 with an extensive offer phase and in-depth technical and static assessments. A successful trial loading in Mülheim shortly before the contract award finally paved the way for a smooth rollout. Both teams showed remarkable endurance, proving that quality and consistency pay off, winning over its end customer through technical excellence and commercial reliability, values that Fracht FWO shares with GATX Rail Europe. “Working with GATX feels like a natural fit. We share the same commitment to quality, reliability, and long-term partnership — all essential to supporting our customers and the energy transition,” says Sascha Bengel, branch manager at Fracht FWO Chemnitz. Thorsten Reichel, Area Manager North of GATX Rail Europe, states, “Projects like this show what’s possible when persistence meets partnership. We’re proud to support Fracht FWO with flexible solutions and reliable railcars that keep their supply chain on track.”
