In January, GATX Rail Europe marked the handover of Laaers railcars to Waberer’s Group, supporting its automotive rail logistics operation in Europe. The railcars will be operated by PSP Rail, Waberer’s rail logistics subsidiary, as part of their ongoing transportation of finished vehicles from Debrecen, Hungary to key European logistics hubs.
The Laaers are specifically optimized for the transportation of electric vehicles, offering the technical configuration and flexibility required for modern automotive logistics. With electric mobility gaining momentum across Europe, reliable and rail-based transportation solutions are more important than ever.
PSP and GATX Rail Europe already share a successful track record. PSP has been a valued GATX customer in the past, leasing different wagon types from the GATX railcar fleet, making this handover the next step in a growing partnership. The collaboration between both teams ensured a smooth start and an efficient integration of the Laaers into PSP’s ongoing operations.
“GATX’s Laaers railcars meet the specific requirements of modern vehicle transport very well. The handover process was straightforward, and the collaboration between our teams worked seamlessly from day one,” says Zsolt Kelényi, Managing Director at PSP Rail.
Christian Haas, Area Manager South at GATX Rail Europe, adds, “We are very happy to welcome another automotive client to our growing roster. Being part of transporting vehicles sustainably across Europe is exactly what rail is made for and what our Laaers are designed to deliver.”
With this handover, GATX continues to support the automotive industry’s shift toward electric mobility, enabling safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly vehicle transportation across European corridors.
