Sustainability is gaining traction: GATX Rail Europe has successfully handed over a new set of Eamnos railcars to long-time partner Rail Cargo Group. The first handover took place in Vienna Freudenau and marks the latest milestone in a strong and growing collaboration. A second handover of additional Eamnos is planned in the weeks ahead.
The newly delivered railcars are ready to transport recycled steel, supporting greener supply chains and circular economy efforts. Purpose-built for bulk transportation, the Eamnos railcar brings efficiency to the tracks. Its open, high-sided design and reinforced build make it a perfect fit for heavy-duty cargo like scrap metal, promoting safe and reliable performance across borders.
“With GATX’s Eamnos railcars, we’re expanding our capacity for sustainable logistics while continuing to rely on high-quality equipment and professional support,” said Michael Trinkl, Department Manager Equipment Procurement of Rail Cargo Group. Christian Haas, Area Manager South at GATX Rail Europe, adds, “We’re proud to grow our collaboration with Rail Cargo Group and to keep driving circularity forward – with excellent railcars, reliable service, and shared commitment.”
By moving more recycled materials by rail, both companies are powering cleaner steel use and cutting CO₂ emissions where it counts—a smart move for industry and for the environment.
