Training & Notifications

Schedule your onsite trainings and keep up with new regulations

Basic training for operating your railcars is a GATX Railcar Handover Service. Since our teams are true, enthusiastic railcar experts who happily welcome every invitation for additional training, we are of course available for additional trainings throughout your lease agreements, when and where you need it.

Usually, we post our available training schedule here, but due to Covid-19, we’re all safer taking a break from onsite trainings. We are currently working on digitalizing our most requested training sessions and will update you here.

Keeping up with new regulations

Sharing relevant regulatory news is an essential part of our service to you. We’re present on all important industry boards, railway and wagon-owners associations in Europe and more. Low-Noise Brake at European Level

Customers of GATX are being notified in a timely manner about the ban of noisy railcars from Swiss tracks (starting from 2020) and from the German rail network starting from the 2020/21 timetable change. Tailor-made solutions are offered to meet both, the commercial and the regulatory requirements. Simultaneously, GATX has been equipping existing freight cars with quiet brake blocks for years now and continues to invest in new, low-noise freight cars… the majority of our fleet already has “whisper brakes”.

Digital Automated Coupling (DAK)

The DAK will likely replace the existing buffer and draw gear on railcars. This DAK enables automatized operational processes like automated coupling with air, electricity and data line. GATX participates in the TIS working group and is a member of the consortium in the BMVI project “DAC Demonstrator train”.
