GATX Rail Europe has provided Tagnpps grain railcars to longstanding customer LTE for seasonal transportation of agricultural products between Hungary and Italy. The project expands the established partnership between GATX Rail Europe and LTE into grain transportation for the first time.

LTE collected the railcars directly from two depots in Neratovice and Louky in the Czech Republic. Despite the short lead time, the railcars were prepared and positioned on schedule, and collection proceeded without issue.

A Fast Response to Seasonal Demand
Timing is critical in agricultural logistics. The right railcars must be available when crops are ready to move and transportation demand peaks. For this seasonal lease, the GATX Rail Europe team responded quickly to make the required equipment available at the right time and place. The railcars will operate between Hungary and Italy until the end of 2026.

Tagnpps Grain Railcars Designed for High-Capacity Transportation
Built in 2023, the four-axle Tagnpps railcars—type 8597—are designed to transport agricultural products such as corn, wheat, barley, rapeseed, sunflower seeds, and soy. Each railcar offers a capacity of 103 m³ and a payload of up to 68.5 tones, enabling large volumes to be transported efficiently. Six manually operated unloading chutes support controlled and efficient discharge at the destination. These features make the railcars well suited to provide reliable cross-border grain transportation throughout Europe.

The GATX Rail Europe and LTE Partnership Expands into a New Sector
GATX Rail Europe has previously supported LTE primarily in intermodal transportation. The partnership has also covered tank railcars for light and heavy mineral oil, as well as Shimmns and Eamnos railcars.

The new lease extends this longstanding partnership into the agricultural sector. It demonstrates how GATX Rail Europe combines a diverse European fleet with responsive local teams to support customers as their transportation requirements evolve.

From the time-critical request to the smooth handover, the project shows what making railcar leasing easier means in practice: the right railcars, at the right place, at the right time.
