Curiosity, questions, and a first look behind the scenes – that’s what Girls’ Day – Future Prospects for Girls at our Hamburg office was all about. We were pleased to welcome 12 students to GATX Rail Europe, three of whom joined us through colleagues, while the others found their way to us via the official platform.
Throughout the day, participants got a closer look at what we do in rail freight and railcar leasing – from understanding how commodities move across Europe to exploring the variety of roles behind it. Our team shared insights into daily operations, career paths, and the importance of safety, quality, and service in everything we do.
What made the day special were the conversations: open, curious, and sometimes surprising. It’s refreshing to see our industry through new eyes and to answer questions that challenge us to explain what we often take for granted.
Initiatives like Girls’ Day matter. They help build awareness, break stereotypes, and show that rail transportation is not only essential, but also full of opportunities.
A big thank you to everyone involved in organizing the day – and of course to our visitors for bringing energy and curiosity to Hamburg. We hope this was just the first step on a longer journey.
